So far the only technologies we have for aging of the face include skin treatments that are nonsurgical and then classic surgical procedures as well. The nonsurgical treatments includes lasers, radio frequency skin tightening like Morpheus and Facetite, prescription and nonprescription topical creams, chemical peels, and the list goes on. We can also do surgical procedures like a facelift surgery to reposition and re-drape the skin.
We can attempt to make volume deeper in the face with bio stimulators such a Sculptra and Radiesse and other hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane Lift and Voluma. When we think of increasing volume from the bottom we’re really talking about replacing the bone volume that’s lost.
In all of this conversation we have not done anything to address the muscles of the face. Facial muscles lose volume overtime and this volume loss normally contributes to the ligamentous support of the mid face. With an absence of volume to create tension on the ligaments, they begin to sag and droop causing the appearance of facial aging in addition to recession of the bone. We can address bone recession as best we can with volume replacement such as Sculptra or Radiesse which are injectable FDA-approved dermal fillers.
But what if there were a way to exercise the facial muscles causing them to hypertrophy restoring the lost volume that happens over time? Introducing EMFace! EMFace combines synchronized Radio-Frequency (RF) and High Intensity Focused Electromagnetic Technology (HIFES).
Synchronized RF remodels and smooth skin by heating the dermis (the deep layer of the skin) and increasing the level of collagen and elastin fibers. HIFES Technology restores and elevates the support of facial tissues by selectively contracting the frontalis muscle in the forehead, and the zygomaticus major, zygomaticus minor, and Rizorus muscles in the midface. Additionally, supra maximal contraction means 90% of the muscle fibers are contracting. When we use our brain to contract our muscles, only a maximum of 40% of the muscle is contracted.
